Students Attend Regional Speech Meet

Monday, February 27th, 2012

The Southwestern Ontario Invitational Speech Meet was held this year at Rehoboth Christian School in Copetown, Ontario. This year our school was represented by 16 eager students in grades one through eight. Many poems and excellent speeches were delivered by all the participants.

Students delivering speeches had a wonderful opportunity to hear the speeches of others. The speeches contained biblical content which gave our students the opportunity to listen to the connection other students made with scripture and how they tied it into their topics. As a result, students were able to reflect on the speeches of others from a biblical perspective.

Public speaking can be an unsettling experience for many people and the speech meet provided an excellent opportunity for students to practice and develop this skill. The comments from the judges were favourable and encouraging and many of the scores were very close.

We would like to congratulate Amber who placed third for an original speech from a student in grade four. Well done Amber! Congratulations also go out to all participants for their hard work and excellent behaviour. Thank you also to all parents who drove to Copetown and supervised and encouraged our students.

What a wonderful day,

Mrs. Kerr-Bott
