Meet Our Staff
Our family is committed to academic excellence. Each member of our team helps guide your child in learning and in faith.
I am pleased to be a part of the Foundation team. I treasure the opportunity to lead as a servant every day. What a privilege to foster Christ-like characteristics in each student.
I am committed to education on multiple levels. As headmaster, the leadership of the community we call Foundation is critical as we invest in the future of our children and our community. I have also spent considerable time in Ecuador and India where my wife and I engaged in community development campaigns.
I enjoy my role as a mentor, teacher, coach and headmaster.
Matthew is married and has two children of his own. His family is active in their church where he also uses his gifts in service.
With more than 30 years experience of bookkeeping and small business, I am delighted to be the Finance Manager at Foundation. I love sharing the miraculous stories of God’s hand at work since the inception of Foundation. It is such a blessing to see first hand the joy of Christian Education in action!
Laurie is married and has 6 grandchildren which keep her very busy. She is active in her church and sings in the choir.
Before coming to Foundation Christian School, I was the Director of Girls’ Camp at Ontario Pioneer Camp for 9 years. Camp ministry has been a vital part of my life for many years. Before working at Pioneer, my husband and I served in Costa Rica in a growing Christian camping ministry and leadership centre. My role as Office Administer gives me the opportunity to share my gifts of administration, hospitality, communication and nurture.
Lisa is married and they have two children. They attend Kortright Presbyterian Church in Guelph and enjoy family camping adventures.
I love teaching. I am very pleased that Foundation encourages global studies and building character through visual art. I love working with grade 3 and 4 students and believe this is a special time in the lives of children. Sharing my love of art in the context of Biblical creation is an immense blessing. Leading children in learning to express themselves in art, music and drama is an awesome experience for me and for my students.
Kimberly teaches grade 3 and 4 and is one of the creative minds behind our musicals and dramas
Sheri Leeder, Resource Teacher
For more than 10 years I have dedicated my life to teaching children with special learning abilities. With a specialty in Special Education, I look forward to developing a unique plan for each child I teach. I am committed to sharing my faith with the children I teach. Children learn in unique ways, I am excited to walk along with them, opening the door of learning to children who have struggled.
Sheri attends Kitchener Mennonite Brethren Church and is involved as a Youth Group leader. When she has time, she enjoys spending time canoeing and camping with her family.
Doreen Lachance, Teacher
For 13 years I served in communities overseas. As a principal and divisional principal in Haiti, Fiji and Nepal, I learned many leadership skills and the importance of education. I count it an honour and a privilege to share my personal journey with my students, giving them an ever widening circle of experience that includes a global perspective.
Doreen teaches grades 1 and 2. In her spare time, Doreen enjoys reading, music and further discovery of cross-cultural experiences.
With a background in Special Education, I can see just how complex learning styles are. As I teach the grade 5 students, I am able to apply my knowledge and experience, helping each student engage with their strengths. Because Foundation believes in teaching from a holistic perspective, I can engage outside the classroom through sports and in their spiritual formation.
James also enjoys playing guitar and coaching swim classes.
Catherine holds both a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and a Bachelor of Education. She brings more than 10 years of teaching experience, and even more passion to her position teaching physical education, math, and science. She is an avid sports fan, and demonstrates her commitment to athletics leading sports within our school, but also in her personal life. Her interests and hobbies include: sports, running, biking, travel, mission work, bible studies, volunteering with Healing Rooms and Treasure Hunt.
Lauren Gray, Teacher
Having recently finished by Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education, I am both a new teacher and a new wife. This is my first year married and my first year as a teacher. I am so blessed to start my teaching career off at Foundation. When not at Foundation, I work part-time as a technology consultant in the Upper Grand school board. I am a lover of learning and quite certainly learn something new from my students each day. My husband and I attend Parkview Church in Guelph. In my spare time I enjoy gardening, exploring the outdoors, reading, and cooking.
Kristen Freeman, Educational Assistant
I am so excited to be a part of the team here at Foundation Christian School as the Educational Assistant. I graduated in 2014 from the 2 year Educational Assistant Program at Fleming College and have been working as an EA for the Waterloo Regional District School Board for the past two years. Before that I volunteered a total of 3 years in a variety of different schools in Alberta, Nunavut, Peterborough and Waterloo. I love helping children achieve that “lightbulb” moment when things start to click. I look forward to working along side the rest of the Foundation staff to help each child achieve their goals in a positive way. In my spare time I love to be active in whatever way I can whether it’s going for a run, zumba, soccer, volleyball or just going for a walk outside. I love spending time with my family and friends as well as baking. Any chance we get, you will find my husband and me outside exploring the great outdoors.
