God Has Plans – has He Given You Yours?

The lord is my shepherd; I shall not want he makes me to lie down in green pastures; he leads me besides the still waters. He restores my soul; he leads me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; your cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life; and I will dwell in the house of the lord to the end of my days. Psalms 23:1-6

How easy is it to read a verse in Psalms and be comforted by the Lord’s words but in the same setting it is very difficult to follow the Lord when you we won’t let him lead. So often in my life I have chosen to take the lead role in my own story and have taken the reins from God and placed them into my own hands and directed my wagon where I wanted to go. I have found in the past year that I have much greater blessings and more relaxation and less stress when I put the things I want to do into God’s leadership first – allowing Him to put me where He wants me to be. God has shown me that His plans are mightier than mine. His ways are better than mine, no matter the situation. When he is in control and I go to Him first He will lead me to greatness in all situations in my life. How encouraging is it to know that God’s willing to give me my heart’s desire if only I give him leadership over myself.
